A measuring wheel has been something people have used to measure distances with since the 17th century. It certainly has had many names over the years, one of the first names was the surveyor’s wheel and was mainly used to measure distances between places like towns and cities. The device has also been called Clickwheel, Waywiser, Trundle Wheel or Perambulator.
Today’s measuring wheels are accurate, lightweight, foldable and easy to carry. Depending on your needs, you have the option of choosing a mechanical- or a digital counter. Distance measuring wheels are especially handy when measuring long distances in all kinds of terrains and spaces, over uneven or rough ground. Particularly useful in Road Marking, Construction, Paving, Fencing, Pool Building, General Construction, Garden Layouts, Sports Fields, Factory Layouts, Property Assessment, Traffic Control, Insurance Assessments and many more industries too numerous to mention.
Choosing a Measuring Wheel
When it comes to choose the best wheel for your needs there are a few general rules to consider.
Is the wheel used for indoor or outdoor work. If it is Indoor work only, then a small wheel up to 12 cm in Diameter will be fine. If it is predominantly outdoor work on sealed roads, paving, schools yards etc then 15 cm to 32 cm diameter wheels are more suitable.
